 What is an Interest Group?
An interest group is an organization that tries to influence government (specifically Congress) and shape policies.  Some examples include: NRA, ACLU, NAACP

What is their purpose?-  Their main purpose is to influence government officials in decision making and passing laws. They can do this by making a campaign contribution, pressuring elected officials, etc.

Is This A Good Thing?-  Interest groups have pros and cons just like anything else, so maybe you can decide that with the help of these pros and cons.
Pros- They have the power to create change, they can offer positive solutions, promotes Democracy
Cons-  they look specifically at their opinions and interests, Campaign Contributions make it more about the money and can give unfair leverage.

The ideological perspective of this interest group is Liberal. I know this because usually liberals have a more supportive view about LGBTQ+ rights. From the line "In 2016, just days after the Pulse Orlando shooting, HRC began the #Askthegays campaign in response to President Trump's challenge..." (HRC.org). I can Infer from  that this interest group is Liberal because they participate in LGBTQ+ events.

The purpose of this excerpt is to inform readers on many events and campaigns they have supported and attended. I know because they list the major impacts they have had at their most recent events and have a proud tone when talking about their works.

One bias this page has is their disapproval of President Donald Trump. I can infer this because they state "HRC used this campaign as a rallying cry to highlight Trump..It was an opportunity for our community to say what they really thought about an agenda of discrimination" (HRC.org).
